One of my good friends is getting married in 1 month and I put myself upon the tasks of organizing her a bachelorette party. I'm somebody that loves to do things for other people or surprise them so that's why I gave myself the task of organizing it. For me a bachelorette party should be a day filled with a mix of adventure, food, drinking and celebrating womanhood. So that's why I wanted a workshop as one of the activities. So I was thinking about some different kind of stuff. I could make it spicy (think about a boudoir shoot) but then again not everybody knew each other so that could be the start of a very awkward situation. So I had to find something that wouldn't be too awkward, but would still need you to call on your inner woman and sexiness. So then I found Burlesque. My ins

piration came from the movie itself. If you haven't watched the movie, shame on you and go watch it now. Well maybe not now, after you read the blog, but do watch it!!

For those who do not know what burlesque is. It's a dance form where woman dance in a sensual way, celebrating themselves and their bodies. It's not all about selling sexiness since comedy can be added to the dance. It's also not about going nude, but hinting the watcher and teasing them.

So I though this would be ideal. It's something active and you can celebrate your own body and gain confidence from it. So

I found a company that would do a private workshop (Burlesquefabriek) and contacted them. From the start I got a great feeling from them. They were kind and gave a lot of information. They even arranged a place at our destination in Belgium even though they are from the Netherlands. So now everything was set and the only thing I could do was waiting for the big day itself.

Oh but I didn't just wait though. I'm a person that's dedicated to stuff like this. I mean the outfits woman wear in Burlesque aren't just dance clothes. They are sparkly, skimpy and sexy so I wasn't going to let the bride and myself go in basic workout clothes... I searched the internet for the best bridal lingerie clothing that was still comfortable and not too revealing and bought it. And then it was time for something for myself. I could only think about one sentence 'Diamonds are a girls best friend...' So I went big. Maybe a little too big XD But hey go big or go home right?

So then the moment was there. The bride had no clue about what the activity would be. So 10 minutes before we arrived I gave her her outfit and the only thing I could see on her face was a mix of confusion and dread. Mission succeeded I though. We arrived and the spot and a woman named Gabrielle welcomed us. She was the nicest person and gave everybody a welcoming feeling. We had the chance to change into our clothes and I was so proud that the bride herself dared to put on the outfit I gave her. You go girl! The others also did their best with their velvet and leather. Loved the dedication. And I was also just glad that I wasn't the only one that had brought an outfit with me.

Gabrielle started the workshop the best way she could. Instead of just learning us a routine we had to tell what we liked the most about ourselves and how we could play that out during dancing. After that we had the time of just dance a little bit on ourselves as we walked trough the room. It was awkward at first but we soon got in the mood, teasing the others with some moves. The awkwardness was gone. Then she started out routine. It was to the song 'Express by Christina Aguilera' on which she also dances in the movie Burlesque. I was totally ready for it but I soon learned that I felt more like a whale on the dry than a dancer. I probably didn't do that bad, but that was just how I felt. It took me a while to ignore my reflection in the mirror and to just enjoy it but after that I was pretty proud about how I did, how we all did. Everybody gave their selves and I was proud at how good everybody was!
